Choreographer 1. French performer and choreographer Louisa Rachedi is a former member of the National Ballet of Canada, and Martin Schläpfer’s Ballett am Rhein. Now an independent artist, she is the director and co-founder of Limbic Shift, a performing arts platform based in Düsseldorf, Germany.
2. Born in Albi, France, Martin Chaix is a former member of the Paris Opera Ballet, the Leipziger Ballet and Ballett am Rhein. His choreographic debut was in 2006 with the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet. Since then Chaix has created over a dozen works for companies such as Ballett am Rhein, the Leipziger Ballet, the Saarland National Theater Ballet and more. He is now a freelance choreographer.
Company A place of collaboration and exchange where movement acts as the articulating body between different art fields, Limbic Shift’s performance work aims to fuse, research and innovate. Founded by choreographer Louisa Rachedi and sculptor Jan van de Weyer, the project-based platform examines the interplay between the visual arts and the performing arts worlds.
Performance 1. Inspired by the eponymous mythical creature, the work ‘Chimera’ explores the enduring relationship between man and monster. Driven by themes of ambiguity, identity, and liminality, the duet questions mankind’s incessant desire to chart, categorize and differentiate all aspects of the world, creating boundaries where there is none.
2. In as state of intrinsic motion the landscape grasps the unease of our state of mind. Whether distant or near, static or moving, one can find peace or anguish depending on our immediate experience. The piece tries to reconstruct the very essence of a landscape, a distant scene, and let the viewer dive into his own self.
